Subject
Areas/ Skills Covered: Fleeing, Chasing, Any core content
material can be used for this activity |
|
Objectives:
The students will be able to move in an open space safely without
bumping into each other (i.e. -demonstrate spatial
awareness). Students will be able to answer simple questions
(true/false) about sports skills or core content material.
Students will develop chasing and fleeing skills throughout this
activity. |
Equipment:
Cones or marker, large open space |
|
Lesson:
Students will be divided into two teams and sit facing each other
about 8 feet apart. One team will be called the
"true" team and the other will be called the
"false" team. A safe base will be made by cones or
markers behind each team about 20-30 feet away. The teacher
will then offer a true/false question (i.e. - The ocean on the
east coast of the United States is called the Pacific). If
the statement is TRUE, the "true" team will run to their
safe base and try to avoid being tagged by the "false"
team. If the statement is FALSE, the roles will be
reversed. Any player tagged by the opposing team will switch
teams and the game continues with a new true/false statement. |
