Title: Side-Line/End-Line Soccer |
Subject
Areas/ Skills Covered: 1.1b, 2.1a, 3.1a, 4.1a, 5.2c - Using
kicking skills |
|
Objectives:
The students will perform previously taught soccer skills in a
game of side-line/ end-line soccer. The students will pass,
dribble, trap, and block on defense. |
Equipment:
Super safe soccer ball or volleyball trainer |
|
Lesson:
The teacher will explain the rules of the game first. Remind
the students to only use soccer skills to try and score.
Number all the players consecutively and begin play by calling 2
or 3 numbers and having them meet for a face-off. The object
is to score a goal by kicking the ball across the
"sideline" and below the sideline player's
shoulders. The field players can move anywhere on the court
(inside). Sideline players must remain on the sidelines to
protect the goal. Sideline players can trap and pass the
ball, but only field players can score goals. If the ball is
kicked over the sideline players' head and remains near the wall,
the sideline player can throw it back into the playing
area. No player may use their hands. After a goal is
scored, call 2 or 3 new numbers and play resumes. If a goal
is not scored in a satisfactory time, the teacher will stop the
game, call the round a "tie" and call new numbers. |
