Lesson:

 30 Second Shoot Out

Separate the class into two teams.  Place half of each team on the opposite sides of the gym (on the black side line next to the cone in the middle).  In the center of the gym, there are two sets of 4 - 6 hula hoops (depends on class size) with one basketball in each hoop.  Both teams will have the first 4 – 6 players in the front from each side come out and stand in a hoop.  When players are ready (they should be down low, basketball is not moving), the teacher may start the round.  On “go”, all players will try to shoot as many balls in their baskets in 30 seconds (each team will shoot at different baskets).  When time is up, the players will hear a whistle and must place their ball back into the hoop.  Count all baskets made (one point each) in 30 seconds as points and give a bonus point to the team that puts the basketballs away first.  No points are awarded for any basket scored after the whistle blows.  The next round will see the next 4 – 6 players from each team come out to shoot.

In this game, you must shoot only your ball.  Remind all students to watch out for their heads.  The players on the sideline waiting are supposed to count for their team.  The teacher will encourage good sportsmanship throughout the game (no booing or rude behavior will be tolerated).
